Stanstead, Quebec is a beautiful town on the border of Quebec and Vermont; it is also the location of RT Natural Energy.  On our recent trip to RT, Wylie took full advantage of the amazing natural beauty that surrounded us and explored his photography both creatively and skillfully.  The result was some breathtaking photos that generated excitement from all of us. 

After witnessing Wylie’s incredible art, Elaine from RT wanted to learn more.  Wylie sat with her for over two hours one night teaching her how to take a great photo and showed her some post-production tricks that Photoshop has to offer.  Elaine was blown away by not only his knowledge, but also his patience and willingness to teach her the processes that have made him an incredible photographer.

For me, it was interesting to see Wylie in teacher-mode; something that he is remarkably good at.  Yes, he spent years teaching mixed martial arts to a variety of children, teenagers and adults, testing his ability to break things down so anyone could understand the concepts but it was a side of him that we don’t see very often around the Dreams office.  Wylie’s craft, his skills and his natural talent are things that he spends hours honing on his own, but few of us have the same interests or abilities that engage him in passing on his knowledge to the rest of us.

Watching him with Elaine made me see how easy he made things look so I took the opportunity to learn a little more about photography.  Now, to preface this, my current photographic abilities extend to taking pictures on my iPhone so you can bet Wylie had his hands full.  With a few simple lessons, I went from taking pictures on Wylie’s camera on automatic, to being able to set up a photo somewhat creatively and manually adjust the necessary aperture, ISO and focus.  I became addicted and was even more engaged when I showed the photos to Wylie and received positive feedback. 

The knowledge that he showcased didn’t stop with photography, he also directed a very productive website discussion with a focus on meeting the needs of Paul & Elaine (our RT business partners) and their clients while ensuring effective functionality.  This direction is truly the evolution of Dreams when it comes to approaching website design and something Wylie has been trying to explain to us since day one.  When it became clear that we had no idea what he needed from us, he did his homework and was able to engage us in a way that made everything so simple and obvious – and the result was the most productive, exciting website meeting we’ve had to date!

So it seems that Wylie has become a very learned man and with this knowledge, he’s become someone we should trust (yikes!); trust his vision, his ability and his versatility – even when he makes me stand in weeds to potentially be attacked by a snake, the end result will be worth it!
