Photography has been a bit of a passion for Wylie and recently he’s been working hard to hone his skills – yet another sign that he’s growing and evolving from the designer he was a little over a year ago, to the media savvy guy we have today.

Refining his photography and learning new ways to capture the perfect image have come at the perfect time.  With so many new and exciting developments in the Dreamstoreality.ca Group of Companies, it’s great to have Wylie pack up his gear and document the action.

His latest photo shoots have primarily been at Radica Rods, Rides and Restoration.  With the spring upon us, builds for the custom cars have gotten busy and the new heavy equipment paint booth landed its first major contract.  With the winter coming to a close everyone is looking for a good car cleaning and a Spotless car detail is just what every car needs.

Normally Wylie packs up his gear (and sometimes his trusty sidekick Jarrett) and heads out for a day of photography.  Recently however, I had the pleasure of watching Wylie at work and I was amazed to say the least.

Our newest business, Shine Yoga & Wellness, needed some instructional photos for a brochure at an upcoming Spiritual Day presentation.  What I assumed to be something quite simple ended up being much more involved than I could have imagined.

First, finding the perfect location – it was a beautiful sunny afternoon and Wylie had a lot of creative ideas to incorporate an outdoor setting.  He set up all his stuff (way more complex than I ever imagined), took his test photos and so it began…this wasn’t quite right, perhaps we need to do this; I don’t like this, let’s try this, etc, etc, etc.  We finally decided on an indoor location, took down everything from outside and re-set up inside.

Watching him set up his equipment alone was mesmerizing – how the heck does all this stuff work?  How does he know how it all goes together?  His most exciting discovery is using his iPhone as a remote trigger (I have to admit, that was pretty cool).

During the process we’d set up the photo, I’d jump in to smooth clothing and fix hair (let’s not even get into how I’m the worst person in the world to be a fashion consultant), take the photo, review it and decide to do a re-take or move onto the next pose.

I never realized how much work went into a real photo shoot and couldn’t imagine how Wylie ever did it on his own.  I definitely have a new appreciation for not only his talent, but also the work he puts into every project.

Wylie has also been closely following the projects for Right Step Renovations.  Check out some of his recent work and feel free to compliment him – email sarahmac@dreamstoreality.ca and I’ll be sure to pass on the message.

Keep smiling~
Mac
