Watching your dreams come to life right before your eyes is something few people in this world have experienced; Jack Bateman is one of them. Warrior One MMA (W-1), a national organization which promotes mixed martial arts events (similar to the U.F.C.), was once a series of ideas running through Jack’s mind. Now Canada’s premier MMA production, Jack’s dreams are not only right in front of him, but have been witnessed by millions of Canadians via television and live events.
Once a provincial grappling champion, Jack had to walk away as a competitor in the sport he loved. His body could no longer take the gruelling workouts and brutal competitions, but his heart was always there. He thought about becoming a coach but his entrepreneurial spirit pushed him in a different direction; creating a company that would allow him to put on his own exciting mixed martial arts events at a national level. In doing so, Jack could support up and coming MMA athletes to help them follow their dreams of becoming a professional mixed martial artist.
Jack had attended hundreds of MMA events as a competitor and teammate. Unlike most of the other athletes, he always paid close attention to the organization of the event. He looked at everything from not only a fighters’ prospective, but also from an organizers. It was this attention to detail that gave him his basis for organizing his first event.
The road to realizing his dreams was not easy. It took a lot of hard work and risks few would take. Jack believes it is this combination, along with his mixed martial arts experience that has lead to his success. His experience as a competitor gives W-1 a unique foundation for what it takes to be successful; put the fighters first. If the fighters are happy, the events and the company will be successful.
Jack sees W-1 as Canada’s gateway to the biggest and best MMA productions the world has to offer such as the UFC, Strikeforce and Dream. Ideally, W-1 will give fighters the opportunity to gain the necessary experience they will require to make their dreams a reality.
