19671_282076911740_282052306740_3953582_6432151_n.jpgTelling Adam Reid’s story is a difficult one for me to tell because, to be honest, no one can tell the Adam Reid story quite like Adam Reid himself. This quick talking, highly energetic, passionate human being has dedicated his life to his craft - his profession as an actor and TV host.

A man of many words, who is forever smiling, engaging and sincere, Adam is truly an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to spend even a few moments with him. If you listen closely to Adam, you’ll hear the most profound words, sayings and phrases that even the greatest writers of our time could not replicate. I know this because no one I have ever met exudes the passion that Adam does, believes in himself or has faith in himself to the extent that Adam does and who truly knows how blessed he is and how amazing his journey has become.

Rather than write Adam’s story from my point of view, I have decided to include Adam’s interview word-for-word. Even in his writing, you can get a sense for Adam, for his energy, his excitement and his passion.

19671_282065116740_282052306740_3953561_6499566_n.jpg I would, however, like to comment on the excerpt below from Adam’s interview:

“I always prefer to say that I’ve had a goal and NOT a dream. Dreams seem to be very far away, while a goal is a target that is visible and with the right aim, tools and patience is very attainable”

It just so happens Adam, that we believe dreams are in the present, that they are attainable and with the right mix of hard work, passion and the right people in your life, dreams can be realized.

The Adam Reid Interview

What is your dream professionally?

19671_282064551740_282052306740_3953556_6058639_n.jpg My professional dream is to be recognized by the best in the television industry as being a TV personality that is extremely versatile. To be able to use that plateau to help others, bring excitement to the homes of millions and the very next day bring an incredible dramatic scene to their same television screen.

If I was to narrow down the dream, it would be to host an extremely popular show in the United States or in Canada and bring something that is different to the screen and to the industry. To revolutionize how hosts are looked at and to showcase the skill required to be an excellent TV Host as well as the most versatile television host/actor to come out of Canada.

How long have you had this dream?

26756_377921061740_282052306740_4304423_3344744_n.jpg I always prefer to say that I’ve had a goal NOT a dream. Dreams seem to be very far away, while a goal is a target that is visible and with the right aim, tools and patience is very attainable. I’ve had a goal to become the strongest TV personality to come out of Canada since 2006 once I was put under contract by Shimon Aviel who at the time took a leap of faith on me and believed in my raw talent. Once I was put under contract, I knew the rest was simply a matter of time.

When did you start pursuing this dream?

19671_282064541740_282052306740_3953555_7774496_n.jpg Once I appeared on TSN’s “Off The Record” for the very first time, I decided to have a bite to eat at the “Keg Steakhouse and Bar” in downtown Toronto to watch the show and my performance. Once I was done watching, I was flabbergasted with the energy that I had demonstrated on camera, pumped with the level of intensity that I had displayed but most of all, I had a feeling of serenity that FINALLY I had found my calling. Finally, the moment had arrived where I could say, “THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.” Once that moment was over, I have NEVER looked back and I’ve been pursuing the goal. I must admit however I enjoy the journey a lot more than I enjoy the final goal. GOALS will always change, they will come and go, but journeys are something special.

What have you done to make this dream a reality?

28201_398838961824_385349226824_4412125_4616543_n.jpgUnlike most of these other would-be stars, I have taken that goal and converted it into work ethic. From the beginning of my career, I have viewed acting as a craft and profession rather than a lottery ticket that might pay off someday. This professional work ethic has inspired me to attend every audition I’ve been called for, to continue my training and to be mentally and physically at my peak for an audition or role at any time. This work ethic has also compelled me to make the most of my roles in further developing my range as a television host, not to mention I am fully bilingual in both English and French and I believe this to be what will set me apart.

Has your dream changed/evolved at all?

26756_376610271740_282052306740_4269010_7222886_n.jpg My aspirations and my goals have changed. It has changed because of one simple reason, EVOLUTION. As I master my craft, as I keep proving to those who are in a position to give me my final break that I am capable, more and more responsibility is being bestowed upon me which is leading me to grow and broaden my horizon. As I mentioned earlier, since I always focus on a goal that is reachable, unlike a dream, it must change very often to keep the course aligned to reach my dream. With more work, comes more confidence, with more delivery comes more confidence on behalf of others, with more confidence from others comes more work. It is a cycle that one must respect and always deliver for.

*How has W-1 helped you with your dream?
*W-1 is a business partner of dreamstoreality.ca (Right Step Solutions)

4645_1159927274270_1110445393_30503339_482243_n.jpgWhen I was approached by W-1 to work with them, the role they had in mind for me was a limited one. As a result of how open they were to listen and grow their talent, I had proposed an entirely different approach. It was an approach that was focused on long-term growth and branding which was all tied into familiarity of Adam Reid within the organization.

Rather than have me host the post fight interviews at the events which only showcased a small part of my skill set, the bold decision was made to make me the “face” and the go-to-guy of the organization.

This responsibility included:

  1. Blogging for their official website
  2. Complimenting their colour commentary as their W-1 “insider” on air
  3. Host all of their press conferences
  4. Host all of their weigh-ins
  5. Conduct all post-fight interviews
  6. Host their official “after-parties”
  7. Host their “MMA Unplugged” show

W-1 has helped me with my dream by offering one simple gesture, FAITH. They have taken a leap of faith on my work, my work ethic, my talent and have been very serious in branding me as part of their family. If the organization grows, Adam Reid grows and that mentality is apparent on all levels of my involvement within the organization.

The have helped me with exposure into 66 MILLION homes across North America and soon to be markets which will only broaden my familiarity as well as helped in supporting events in Montreal that help the growth of Adam Reid and his connection to the MMA world.

What makes you passionate about your dream?

What makes me passionate about my dream is the sheer rush and love of what I do. There is no other way for me to explain the sentiment of accomplishment or the sense of belonging when I deliver an opening statement or question to a fighter in the ring.

What makes me passionate is being the vehicle for someone who is watching me at home to be able to let loose and give them a sense of escapism that they couldn’t get elsewhere.

19671_282076156740_282052306740_3953580_6866322_n.jpg What makes me passionate is watching people in their 50s saying “They wish they followed their hearts” and partnered with an organization like W-1.

What makes me passionate is NOT the millions of people who watch the television show, it’s the simple things that make me smile. It’s knowing that as I get into my car at 4:45am while everyone else in the city sleeps, I am off to my trailer for morning rehearsals and briefing on the days schedule with a nice cup of coffee in my hands.

What are the best parts about your life right now because of your dream?

19671_282064536740_282052306740_3953554_1664372_n.jpg It’s fun to be me right now! The best part of my life right now is that I am being given the plateau and the tools to be able to shape and craft my nice market. I am at a level that allows me everyday to grow as a television host/actor and the means to showcase that change to those who are watching.

Waking up motivated, going to sleep motivated are only a few of the perks that have been given to me emotionally because of the passion I possess towards my dream.

Travel, media attention, personal friendships with people in the industry, exposure, respect within the community and praise from those who are the most critical of others to name a few are the best part of my life right now because of the dream that I am living.

What are your hopes for the future?

3238_79636646198_501406198_2145837_1473362_n.jpgWhat dictates success is longevity and consistency. My hopes for the future is that the evolution continues at an exponential rate in order for the growth of my work and my craft to reach the next level and become what I truly know I can become. I look forward to seeing W-1 grow to the levels I think I can grow to and to become a major player in the world of MMA. Finally, my hope for the future is opportunity because as long as there is opportunity there is possibility.
