Now That’s Teamwork

One of the things I have missed about my past career was the team environment.  I always believed that it was important to have fun at work and always tried to recruit team members who believed in that too.  For me, having a team that was engaging to be around, fun and hard working was always a delight and always something I was proud of.

Partnering with W-1 MMA enabled me to experience the excitement of a team environment once again and I have to admit, I loved every minute of it.

I had the pleasure of recruiting a team of Fighter and Media Representatives (Reps) along with two Anything Men who were responsible to take care of the 24 fighters and five internal media personnel, transportation and anything else that needed to get done.

This team was comprised mostly of friends and family who volunteered to pick up their lives for a week and head to Laval, Quebec, asking for nothing in return but the experience.

As I replay the events that took place that week, I am actually emotionally overwhelmed at what I witnessed.  This team was the hardest working, proactive, energetic team I have ever worked with. From day one, they worked together; immediately exchanging phone numbers to stay in constant contact.  They took initiative to get things done and even when they had a rare moment of down time, they looked to help their other team members who might not have that luxury.

The feedback we received as an organization blew my mind. I actually heard from different outside sources that our team had become “world famous” because everyone was talking about the incredible job they were doing.

After an exhausting week in Laval, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this team.  I know for a fact that they did more than they had bargained for and I’m pretty sure they didn’t have the time to complain.  To my delight, every team member provided positive feedback and requested to come to our next event in Halifax.

I would like to take a minute to thank this amazing team and let everyone know what a pleasure and an honour it is to be associated with each and every one of them:

Bud Rewega – Fighter Rep
Christie Connors – Fighter Rep
Katie Love – Fighter Rep
Ashley Watson – Fighter Rep
Jill Cairns – Media Rep
Mike Sullivan – Anything Man
Tom Waters – Anything Man

In addition, we had a few other volunteers who were thrown into the mix as well as staff who went way outside their job descriptions to help out:

Devlin Ford
Jarrett Ford
Isaac Moleka
Chris Vorano

And last but not least (and certainly not least important), my partner in crime, Wylie Ford.

It is my belief that the people you surround yourself with say a lot about you as a person, but more importantly it is how you treat those people that keeps you in good company.  Remember to always appreciate those you can count on, whether they be family, friends or teammates.

Keep smiling~
